It's snowing outside but I am still on the bike

Today is my day off from training. The first 2 days were good, a learning experience but good. I actually enjoyed riding my road bike on the trainer. When I got hot I had a fan to turn on to help cool me down. I had good movies to watch and the dogs were entertained.

The snow was very light, it didn't hamper my vision and it wasn't so hard that my glasses got wet. It took 30 minutes to make the 5 miles to the hospital and work. I worry about the moose, I have had several closed encounters of the moose type and just want to be able to avoid them if I can.

Food wise today I had some scrambled eggs, two small sausage links and a piece of French toast for breakfast. I ate at the hospital after I pedaled in from home. At lunch I had some homemade spaghetti, made with buffalo meat and fire roasted tomatoe sauce and whole wheat noodles. Dinner was a small piec of Cod quick cooked in a small amout of Olive oil and lime juice. I also had s small sweet potatoe and 5 Brussel sprouts. Lots of water, 1 Alaskan Amber beer and more water. Desert was a WeightWatchers chocolate cake snack (100 calories) and more water. I walked about 2 miles at work and took the stairs for most of my trips to the patient floors. My weight has stayed the same for the past two months so I must be doing something right.

I will be on the trainer after I pedal home from work tomorrow. The trip home today in heavier snow took almost 45 minutes. It takes more energy to pedal in just a small amount of snow, I had forgotten that detail. Anyhow it was a good ride and I am looking forward to the pedal to and from tomorrow.

My 2nd day on the trainer

I have now had 2 days on my trainer and it is different and difficult and easy and not boring, yet. I have a specific workout to do this week, my coach emailed me the instructions and I put them into action starting yesterday.

Riding a trainer is so different than riding outside. Outside I have a lot of things to occupy my mind: any moose on the trail/path? Any cars coming up the path ready to take me out? The trees have no leaves, there is ice on the path and I have to ride carefully so I won't slip, etc. etc. etc. Inside I watched Princess Diary 1 and 2 and the new Indian Jones movie, and talked to the dogs, ..........

This is going to be a challenge, but I do have to admint that being on the bike is the best medicine for mind full of all kinds of things, like work and fixing computers, washing clothes, and all such things.

So 2 down and many more to go! Stay tuned, it might be interesting!

November 1 - the first day

Today I start my new set of workouts sent to me by Kristen, my coach. I will not be able to get on the bike until later and will report of the workout as soon as I am done. I am looking forward to this! More in a few hours...
